HISTORY

In 1974, a small group of three young Mauritian intellectuals decided to join hands and move forward together in their mutual journey towards progress. All of them were in their twenties and early thirties having the same vision and sharing the same cultural, social and moral values.

The three members who met for the first time to create Trimurti are as follows:

Mr Ranapartab Tacouri, CSK, GCSK Founder Member, Former President of Trimurti, Managing Director and Director of the Board of Directors of the Bank of Mauritius, Managing Director of Development Bank of Mauritius, Chief Executive of the First City Bank and presently the Director of the Board of SBM.



Mr Rishinand Roy Dookhony, OSK Founder Member, Former President of Trimurti, Permanent Secretary, Member of the Discipline Forces Service Commission, member of the Public Service Commission and presently Member of the Equal Opportunities Commission.



Late Mr Beejaye Ghoorah Founder Member, Former Secretary of Trimurti, Representative of the Mauritius Economic Development and Investment Authority (MEDIA) in London and General Manager of the State Trading Corporation.

In 1975, some other young friends with similar ideas joined the group and an association called Trimurti was created. On the 22nd of June 1978, Trimurti was formally registered with the Registrar of Association.



On 30th November 2020, the 45th Anniversary of the creation of Trimurti was celebrated during the Annual Family Gathering 2020 held at Sunset Reef Hotel, Pointe aux Piments. To mark this special occasion, the Indian High Commissioner, H.E Shri Tanmaya Lal, who was the Chief guest, launched a video clip on the creation, objectives and activities of Trimurti.



On the 3rd of December 2020, The Indian High Commissioner after attending the special event to mark the 45th anniversary of Trimurti described Trimurti, in the website of the Indian High Commission, as “A unique far sighted initiative promoting social and moral values, cultural heritage and excellence in education among Youth”.
